What we believe
We believe that God the Father, out of love, created humankind in a good and right world because
He is Love. However, humans have turned their back on God and are all caught in sin.
We believe that through Jesus, the Son of God, our relationship with God is restored. When He was born, the light of God entered our world. When He died on the cross, He destroyed our death. When He was resurrected, He restored our life. After Jesus’ return to heaven, He sent the Holy Spirit to fill and empower his followers to do all that he had commanded them to do.
We believe that God the Holy Spirit is still active and at work in our world today and continues to empower all Jesus’ followers. We believe the Holy Spirit comforts, restores, guides and enables us to have life in abundance.
In the fourth century, Christians composed a statement (the Nicene Creed) which declares who God is. All Christians throughout history have held to this statement of the truth of God. It is not a dry bullet-point list about a distant God but a declaration of the Living God who so loves us that he gave His Son that we are able to know Him. It is so central to our faith that we say it almost every week in our morning service.
WE BELIEVE in one God, the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, Was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.
